Young High Sheriff of Warwickshire Competition | 2024 Winner

Following on from the huge success of the ‘Young High Sheriff of Warwickshire Competition 2023’, it was great to support the event again in 2024.

This year’s competition was opened up to Rugby High School students, whereby they were invited to put forward their ideas of why they would like to be The High Sheriff for the day. This could either be done via a 3-minute video clip, 500-word essay or a 200-word poem; giving students the opportunity to express their ideas in a format to suit their individual strengths. There was a huge focus on crime prevention included in the entries and which came with great enthusiasm and recognition from the audience.

A huge congratulations to Sophia, who was awarded the title of ‘Young High Sheriff of Warwickshire 2024 Winner’. Sophia will shadow the current High Sheriff, Rajvinder Kaur Gill and help her undertake her traditional role and official duties on behalf of The King for the day.

As a firm, we are passionate about supporting local events, and in this instance helping to give local students opportunities that might otherwise not be readily available to them. The Young High Sheriff for the day competition, has given children the chance to share their views on crime prevention – which seeing this through the eyes of the younger generation has been hugely insightful.

Rajvinder paid tribute to the contribution made by Moore & Tibbits in being instrumental in the inaugural setting up of this initiative in 2023 and its continuing contribution to the competition: she indicated that along with the other initiators Moore and Tibbits took the leap of faith in creating what was a new and highly unusual idea. Long may its success continue for the benefit of future students!

Members of the audience included; Former High Sheriffs, The current Mayor of Rugby and former Mayor, The Police and Crime Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner, Warwickshire Police, High Sheriff Cadets, local councilors as well as family and friends of the finalists.
