Young High Sheriff of Warwickshire Competition | 2024 Winner
Following on from the huge success of the ‘Young High Sheriff of Warwickshire Competition 2023’, it was great to support the event again in 2024.
This year’s competition was opened up to Rugby High School students, whereby they were invited to put forward their ideas of why they would like to be The High Sheriff for the day. This could either be done via a 3-minute video clip, 500-word essay or a 200-word poem; giving students the opportunity to express their ideas in a format to suit their individual strengths. There was a huge focus on crime prevention included in the entries and which came with great enthusiasm and recognition from the audience.
A huge congratulations to Sophia, who was awarded the title of ‘Young High Sheriff of Warwickshire 2024 Winner’. Sophia will shadow the current High Sheriff, Rajvinder Kaur Gill and help her undertake her traditional role and official duties on behalf of The King for the day.
As a firm, we are passionate about supporting local events, and in this instance helping to give local students opportunities that might otherwise not be readily available to them. The Young High Sheriff for the day competition, has given children the chance to share their views on crime prevention – which seeing this through the eyes of the younger generation has been hugely insightful.
Students across the Borough of Rugby have truly excelled in articulating their visions and aspirations for the esteemed role of Young High Sheriff for a Day. Their thoughtful contributions have infused this ancient office with a fresh and contemporary perspective. This initiative not only honours the historical significance of the High Sheriff's role—one of the oldest Royal appointments dating back more than 1,000 years—but also underscores the vital importance of youth involvement in shaping our society's future. As we look forward to seeing their innovative ideas for crime prevention take shape, it is evident that their voices resonate deeply within our community. Their enthusiasm and insights have not gone unnoticed. Congratulations to all participants for their remarkable efforts! Their ideas are not only a testament to their creativity but also a beacon of hope for a safer and more inclusive future
