Solicitor successfully completes British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 course.
We are excited to announce that Charlotte Bell, a solicitor in our Court of Protection team, has successfully completed her British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 course.
It is crucial that legal services are accessible to everyone, including the deaf and hard of hearing community. Communication plays a vital role in our work, ensuring that our client's opinions are heard, listened to, and conveyed effectively to others. Charlotte’s skills in being able to use BSL will provide more opportunities to represent deaf and hard of hearing clients, improving direct communication, and reducing the need for intermediaries. Charlotte is currently attending the Deaf Cultural Centre every week for her Level 3 course.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed learning BSL and meeting members of the deaf community. I strongly believe that by learning BSL, it’s a small step to breaking down communication barriers. Everybody's views deserve to be shared, and being able to sign as a solicitor is a small step to improving my communication with others.”
