We are supporting 'Light It Up Blue' for World Autism Awareness Day
Celebrating World Autism Awareness Day 2026, we take a look at how legal support can make a meaningful difference for individuals and families living with autism.
As a firm, we are using Autism Awareness Day as an opportunity to encourage families to seek advice on key areas such as access to care, healthcare rights, and long-term financial planning. Navigating systems around healthcare provision, disability benefits, and local authority support can be complex and overwhelming, and many families are unaware of the full range of assistance available.
It is important to highlight that individuals with autism may be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding, depending on their assessed needs. Our team has extensive experience supporting families to access CHC funding, as well as challenging decisions made by Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and Local Authorities when support is incorrectly refused, reduced, or withdrawn. We understand how stressful these processes can be, and we work closely with families to ensure their loved ones receive the care they are entitled to.
World Autism Awareness Day, also offers an opportunity to emphasise the importance of long-term and future planning, including setting up appropriate trusts and making arrangements that safeguard the wellbeing and financial security of autistic individuals later in life. Tailored legal solutions can provide families with peace of mind and help ensure robust protection for the future — something we strongly encourage.
World Autism Awareness Day is also a chance to promote better understanding of autism within the legal sector itself, calling for more accessible services, clearer communication, and more inclusive practices for neurodiverse clients. We’ll be showing our support by wearing blue for ‘Light It Up Blue’.
As a team, we feel passionately about empowering families with the knowledge and practical support they need to help them navigate challenges and plan confidently for the future.
If you have any questions or need guidance in supporting and planning for the future of a loved one with autism, our specialist team is here to help every step of the way.
